In 1827, one of the most popular artists of Japan's Edo period, Hokusai, painted the famous Amida Waterfall. I adapted Hokusai's waterfall to create a Chinese New Year card for the Year of the Dragon, adding the slim silhouette of a stylized dragon. The colors in this Happy New Year design are blue, aqua, amber and beige. It is a unique departure from the usual red color-scheme for the Chinese New Year. The images of the blue dragon and the waterfall, and the faux gold effect in the Chinese symbol for "dragon," blend to make a pleasing card for the Year of the Dragon.
