This card recalls the Akedah, the sacrifice of Abraham's son Isaac as a test of Abraham's faith in God. Because Abraham demonstrates that his acceptance of God's word is true, the sacrifice is nullified as a ram is sent to the altar in place of Isaac. The sun and moon represent the luni-solar calendar that determines the structure of the Jewish year.
